If you are interested in saving money - and/or in paying off student loans - and/or Korean culture - give strong consideration to teaching outside Seoul.

Most major cities in Korea have everything Seoul has: big shopping malls, Western food chains, arts and culture districts - but they also don't have Seoul's high prices, traffic gridlock, air pollution, jam-packed subways and buses.

Korea has an excellent transportation system - and major cities (Daejon, Daegu, Pusan, Gwangju, etc.) can easily be reached in two or fewer hours on express bus lines that are inexpensive and run regularly.

The last three years I lived in Korea, I lived about 90-100 minutes away from Seoul and it was quite easy to get in and out of town.  But, as I didn't live in Seoul I didn't have to deal with the high prices and the heavily crowded transportation systems.    As a result, my life was more pleasant and I could save much more money (though I didn't mind spending it on the weekend!).

You may also find that you can land a better job outside Seoul.  For some reason, EVERYBODY wants to work in Seoul and as a result the demand for teachers is not as great as in areas outside Seoul.  Thus, you may find that you are better able to negotiate your wages or terms of employment.  But, also, there are just far more jobs going wanting outside Seoul and you can likely have your pick.
